Resetting Rational Rose toolbars and views

Sometimes you get in an unfortunate situation and drag the a view or toolbar in Rational Rose and it won't let you go back to its original position. Rational Rose is annoying that way. Thankfully IBM is trying to get people to use Rational Software Architect or Rational Modeler now. However, those that are doing Cúram development are stuck with Rational Rose until Cúram software updates its toolset. So if you are unlucky, do the following steps to reset your Rational Rose views and toolbars to their original positions.

  1. Exit Rose if it is running
  2. Start up the Registry Editor
  3. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Rational Software\Rose
  4. Delete the following keys (they look like folders in the Registry Editor):
  • Rose Browse Window
  • Rose Description Window
  • Rose Standard Toolbar
  • Rose Toolbar Panels
  • Rose Toolbox Toolbar
  • Rose Toolbar-Summary
When you restart Rose you should see the views and toolbars back to the way things were when you first ran Rose.
